DASC is seeking a coordinator of the Chicago chapter. Please contact us if you would be interested in helping to organize events in the Chicago area.
The Washington DC chapter of DASC has held events in recent years in conjunction with the very active DC alumni club. Highlights include a research briefing at the National Press Club with Thayer professor Charles Wyman on the alternative energy prospects of biomass, and a roundtable for students and young alums on nonprofit careers featuring representatives from the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Worldwatch, New America Foundation, Aspen Institute, Wachovia Bank, and the National Venture Capital Association. The chapter has a number of ideas for future activities, including career mentoring for students and young alums, a database of alumni in social change careers, a Princeton 55-like fellowship program, and more.
Hanover/Upper Valley Chapter
It seems as though there are a significant amount of alums who have returned to work at the College or who are located in the Upper Valley area. If you would be interested in organizing an Upper Valley Chapter, please get in touch with us via the contact button.
Is there any interest in starting a network of DASC members who find themselves out of the country for extended periods of time? E-mail us via the contact button if you're interested!
LA/Southern California Chapter
New York is DASC's founding chapter and currently the largest chapter, with 120+ members as of 2011. New York members have been gathering for social events since June 2003, and have attended a large number of theater performances, documentary screenings, and readings by Dartmouth authors, directors, artists, and activists. Chapter members have also been involved as high school interviewers for the New York alumni club. Alex Kehl '07 and Ella Kim '09 have volunteered to revive the chapter. If you're interested in helping to organize events in New York or would just like to learn more and get involved with DASC in New York, contact them via this link.
Work with some Bronx kids!
The South Bronx Charter School I helped found and currently work for is looking for volunteers.
Our K-3 school is a dual-language school that focuses on the arts. We need volunteers to do things including:
chaperone fun trips
just read to small groups
work on artsy projects including our news team, plays, and dance
Volunteers could come whenever (we rock out from 8am to 6pm) and it's just one stop away from Manhattan on the 6. Drop me a note if you are interested!
